2009 was the year for me to return to rallycross as an active driver. As a Dutchman in the Flemisch VAS championship (the +1600 class). A vast field of sometimes over 40 cars battled for the finales. After the rust of a 7 years break was of the car and the driver I managed to do a couple of C-finals.
Overall great fun. Hope to be back in 2010.
Regards, Jan

I thought the new rule is that there is a D-final (first 2 then go to the C-final).
Why no D-finals in Lydden?

:: Why no D-final?
I still think it is a crying shame that if you have 2 non finishes in your heats, regardless of the fact you could post a top 5 time in the third heat you do not qualify. There were near 30 D1 starters at Lydden, and people/teams go to great lengths to raise the money to compete at these events yet because of problems out of their control(sometimes) they dont make the cut. The likes of Koutny, Knapick, Hill and Proctor could have graced a D final.

:: D final
One should not forget or underestimate that, in case of a D final, the 15th and the 16th fastest of the qualifying heats must start in the D (first), while he would have been straight into the C as well as ERC points according to the old regs…

:: D final
The D final will only take place when there are 30 qualifiers (not starters) in a class. My guess is that we will get a D final in France, possibly in D1 and D1-A. The D final rule also says that first and second places go to the C final. When there is a D final, the top 20 qualifiers will start the finals.

Have done rallycross for 18 years, mainly in Holland and Belgium. After a couple of years rest I'm now rebuilding some of my cars and hope to return someday.
Some information about the 18 years can be found at www.mracing.nl
